Mr. Johnson has built a legacy of educational improvement and school turnaround.
As the Founder & CEO of Partnerships in Sustainable Education, he is committed to supporting associations, districts, leaders, schools, teachers, and communities in improving and maintaining quality, sustainable educational institutions for all children. He led New Haven Federation of Teachers, funded by AFT Innovation Fund, to plan restorative practices implementation in New Haven public schools. He was Facilitator of the New Haven Public Schools Redesign Committee.
He served as Principal of Julia A. Stark Elementary School, managing the teaching staff, prioritizing professional development needs and establishing student goals. Here he improved the school’s performance ratings from one of the lowest in the district to #3 out of 15 schools in just two years. He was a key contributor toward driving the school's proficiency scores to 90.6%. He led his team in developing and implementing comprehensive improvement initiatives, becoming the District’s only elementary school to increase the percentage of students reaching proficiency in every subject at every grade level.
He was a Special Education Teacher at Woodrow Wilson MS. He holds an MA in Special Education and a BS in Special Education, Mathematics from the NEAG School of Education, University of Connecticut. He continued his education with an Executive Leadership Program at NEAG and has also completed his Sixth Year Masters in Educational Leadership at Southern Connecticut State University. Mr. Johnson has also attended KIPP Leaders in Training Program at the University of California at Berkeley. He holds several State of Connecticut Teacher Certifications including Superintendent of Schools, Intermediate Administrator and Supervisor, Comprehensive Special Education, K-12, and is a licensed Restorative Practices Trainer.
He leverages his unique background of being raised in an urban community with his outstanding education and record of success in school administration and teaching to consistently help students, teachers and entire educational systems achieve outstanding results.
