Natombi Simpson

Natombi Simpson is an Education Consultant with Hamilton County Educational Service Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from South Carolina State University and a Master of Education degree in Educational Administration from Xavier University.  

As an Education Consultant, Natombi collaborates with school districts in the southwestern and mid-Ohio regions to help craft and support those districts’ DBIE goals and initiatives, provides support as a Project Based Learning (PBL) school and district consultant, and facilitates adult learning around culturally responsive pedagogy in STEM. Before that, she served as a PBL Coach, PBL facilitator, and Science Department Facilitator in Winton Woods City Schools, and as a biology teacher with over 25 years of classroom and leadership experience.

Natombi has dedicated her career to creating equitable, emotionally safe, supportive, student-centered learning environments for children. As a PBL Consultant, Natombi works to heighten awareness of the need to design projects for deeper learning. She coaches teachers and teacher teams on how to craft PBL experiences that are culturally connected to students, are authentic to students’ lived experiences, and promote active engagement and academic discourse while being delivered with culturally responsive pedagogy in an emotionally and intellectually safe space. In her role as a DBIE consultant, she guides district/school leadership as they work to create educational spaces that authentically honor and center the voices and experiences of children from historically and systemically marginalized communities. 

Natombi is married and resides in Forest Park, Ohio with her husband and son. In her free time, she enjoys reading, exercising, attending sporting events, and spending time with her Sorors of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
