Michele Bowers

Dr. Michele M. Bowers has been a school educator for 30 years and proudly serves as Superintendent for Lancaster School District, Lancaster, California. July 2020 marks the beginning of her ninth year as superintendent. Lancaster School District serves a very diverse population of more than 15,000 students in Preschool through Grade 8 and, under her leadership, has promoted equitable access for all students to enrichment programs such as STEAM, visual and performing arts, computer science, coding, and robotics. Dr. Bowers also enjoys working as an adjunct professor for California State University Bakersfield Antelope Valley Campus in the Educational Leadership Administrative Program. In addition, Dr. Bowers is pleased to serve as an administrative coach for new administrators in the ACSA Clear Administrative Credential Program in Palmdale, California.


Dr. Michele M. Bowers received her Bachelor’s degree from Regents University, her Masters degree in Educational Administration from California State University Bakersfield, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy from Pepperdine University in Malibu. A proud Antelope Valley resident for more than 25 years, Dr. Bowers is an active member of numerous community organizations including Lancaster West Rotary, United Way, numerous local Chambers of Commerce, City of Lancaster Safety Task Force and the Antelope Valley Board of Trade. She works diligently to establish and maintain strong partnerships with several organizations/individuals in the business community such as Northrop Gruman, Lockheed, Microsoft, Air Force Base Research Laboratory, City of Lancaster and Antelope Valley Partners for Health. Dr. Bowers greatly values, and is an active member of, several professional organizations including Los Angeles County Office of Education Superintendent’s Advisory Committee; Association for California School Administrators, where she has selected as Superintendent of the Year for the Antelope Valley Region twice and, in Fall 2019, selected by ACSA to receive the Valuing Diversity Award for California; President-elect and Chairperson for the National Coalition on Educational Equity for CAAASA, who also selected her as Superintendent of the Year in 2019; and, as a Board member for the Fiscal Crisis Management and Assistance Team (FCMAT.)

Dr. Michele Bowers is passionate, inspirational, and highly regarded as a professional in the field of education and has been a keynote speaker, served on panel discussions, and provided professional training at numerous events. She is a dedicated educator, mentor and advocate for youth everywhere and her commitment to equity and access in education is unparalleled.
