Peter Rivera

In January 2017 Peter Rivera joined LAUSD as a Program and Policy Development Advisor in the Innovation Office. Peter supports the work in the Division of Instruction. His work includes partnering with external agencies, supporting the scaling of best practices, and helping identify promising practices. Prior to joining LAUSD, he was the Education Program Officer at the California Community Foundation (CCF). At CCF he oversaw the foundations education portfolio, funding non-profits in Los Angeles County. At CCF he also managed a donor led initiative that invested in sports, music, and recreation programs for youth in South Los Angeles. Prior to CCF, Peter also worked in San Diego Unified as a Program Manger-Program Monitor in San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) where he was in charge of oversight of SDUSD’s charter schools. At SDUSD he facilitated the creation of an annual review process for charter schools, the creation of operational and special education memorandum of understandings, and recommendations on charter school renewals. Peter began working in education as a college aide in the Long Beach Unified School District and interned in their Research, Evaluation, and Planning Office. He completed his undergraduate degree at UCLA and has a Masters of Public Policy from USC.
