Alexandra Anormaliza is the Director of the Affinity Group Field Support Center. In this role, she works closely with over 160 schools, several superintendents, and six non-profit organizations or affinity groups to provide the schools with integrated supports to address instructional, operational, and student service needs. She has served in various leadership roles in the New York City Department of Education since 2010, including Executive Director for the Office of Instructional Support, where she oversaw the development of yearly citywide instructional expectations and the implementation of aligned citywide professional learning experiences.

 

Most recently, Alexandra was the inaugural leader for the Progressive Redesign Opportunity for Schools of Excellence (PROSE) program, which sought to provide schools with flexibility to implement innovative strategies outside of existing union rules and Chancellor’s Regulations. Alexandra started her career in education as a high school teacher. She served as founding principal of The International High School at Prospect Heights in Brooklyn from 2004 to 2010. Alexandra is a graduate of New York City public schools and the City University of New York, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education, a Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and an advanced certificate in Educational Leadership. She was a member of the first cohort of the New York City Leadership Academy.
