Megan Roberts is the Executive Director of Math for America (MƒA), a philanthropic non-profit organization with a mission of elevating the prestige of the teaching profession and working to keep great teachers in the classroom. In New York City, MƒA awards four-year fellowships to public school math and science teachers. Nationally, MƒA advocates for its Master Teacher model, advising and supporting initiatives and legislation in service of STEM teacher education.

Prior to MƒA, Megan worked for the NYC Department of Education as Executive Director for the Office of Innovation. She served in this role for four years, during which time she and her team worked to support the school-based design and development of innovative whole school models across the city. As part of her role, Megan was a member of the Global Education Leaders Program (GELP), working alongside national and international policy makers to collaborate on large scale educational reform challenges.

Before joining the Office of Innovation, Megan served as a NYC Network Leader, where she provided instructional and operational leadership and support for 25 public middle and high schools across the city. Prior to this, Megan spent several years as the Director of Science for Region 9 schools, where she was responsible for the curriculum, instruction and professional development for the schools across Manhattan and the South Bronx.

A former public school science teacher, Megan holds an Ed.D. in Science Education from Teachers College, Columbia University; an M.A. in Secondary Science Education, and a B.S. in Earth Science/Structural Geology.

Megan has received fellowships from the Woodrow Wilson Science Foundation (Princeton University), the Fulbright Memorial Teaching Fellowship (Tokyo, Japan) and the Science Research Fellowship (Columbia University). Her publications, articles and public speaking engagements focus on topics in geosciences, science and math education, teacher professional development, educational technology and innovation in education.

Megan lives in Fort Greene, Brooklyn with her husband and two (sometimes) adorable children.
