Alan Cheng

Alan Cheng is the proud superintendent for 48 NYC high schools - his district includes schools in the Consortium, the Internationals Network, and NYC Outward Bound. Before this, he was the deputy superintendent for the district. He has been working in the NYC Department of Education for the past two decades. Prior to joining the district, he was the principal of City-As-School High School, a transfer school in Manhattan. Alan is currently an advanced doctoral student at Teachers College studying adult development and education leadership.

Before joining City-As-School, he was an Education Policy Fellow for the US Senate Health Education Labor and Pension Committee. He has also worked as a Curriculum Fellow at the Judge School of Management at Cambridge University and a Research Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab.
